Understanding Milestones, Not Timelines
Developmental milestones are common checkpoints in a child’s growth—like first words, walking, or responding to their name. While they help guide expectations, they aren’t strict deadlines. Every child is wonderfully unique, and delays in reaching certain milestones don’t always signal concern. Instead, they offer a helpful reference point to identify where support may be helpful.
It’s also important to understand that milestones aren’t only physical. Communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, and play are all part of a child’s development. These areas evolve together, and each deserves equal attention when evaluating growth.
Early Signs to Keep an Eye On
Some signs may suggest that additional support is needed. These can include limited eye contact, a lack of response to sounds or names, minimal babbling or gestures by 12 months, or repetitive behaviors that impact daily activities. If your child is missing several milestones, or if something feels off to you as a parent—trust your instincts.
In many cases, early intervention can make a meaningful difference. At Curate, assessments are designed to provide clarity, not judgment. The goal is to understand your child’s unique profile and determine the best way to support them in their journey.
The Power of Early Support
Getting help doesn’t mean something is wrong—it means you’re being proactive. Children thrive when their individual needs are recognised early and met with compassion and care. Whether through ABA therapy, speech and language support, or occupational therapy, early tools and strategies can build a strong foundation for long-term success.
At Curate, we’re here to help you better understand your child’s strengths and challenges, and to walk with you—step by step—through every milestone.
